OH THE MARY’S MEMORIES

Oh the Mary’s memories

An honest pub – Left Mary’s after the normal Friday afternoon beer and arrived back seven weeks on after being away on a holiday to be given an envelope from behind the cash register containing $32 odd dollars being the change I had forgotten on the bar.
Terry Deacon.

Real people – The Commercial Hotel is about real people, the salt of the earth bush characters that you wont find anywhere else in country Qld. No pretense, no layers of persona, just real lives, real stories that you only get on the other side of a bar in the bush.
Michael Barry.

Love match made – Rob and I first met at Mary’s during the recovery following the New Years Eve Drought Busters Ball in 1996. We are now married and have three young children.
Megan Anderson.

The 21st birthday – My memory is of celebrating my 21st birthday on 12th April 1977 in the back lounge – not the dining room – with my family. I had just married in September 1976 so it was just a close family group at the party. We had a vast variety of choices including entree of soup, several roasts, corned meat, and the fabulous “Golden Staircase Pie” for dessert. Mary popped in and out during the evening to see that everything went well. It was a lovely night!
